We evaluated the fire recovery outline for a grade.  

Topics were introduced for tomorrow’s anchor paper #2, and students are to write the outline before coming to the lab, 1425, tomorrow to begin writing the paper.

Pre-Writing for District Timed Writing #2
  • Read the prompt – reread the prompt.
  • Consult the “Addressing the Writing Prompt” handout.
  • Determine the focus of the paper.
  • Brainstorm possible ideas to develop the prompt into a more limited topic (thesis).
  • Brainstorm main ideas and possible concrete details.
  • Outline main ideas and concrete details.

Homework –

Outline Practice #3 – 40 point rubric will be online – Review it possibly before starting the outline but DEFINITELY AFTER finishing the outline with a thesis, three MIs, and three to five concrete details for each main idea – only one full sentence.

Prompt for Outline
Students within a school possess a great deal of resources at their disposal to help the community. Last weekend a fellow student’s home burned from a space heater. Create a thesis and an outline to lay out an executable and plausible plan, capable of being implemented and led by a student. It should help the family recover from the loss. Consider what the family needs and the possible methods to meet these needs.
