If the paper is fully typed with concrete details highlighted and in-text references inserted correctly, continue reading.  If not finished with work from Monday/Tuesday, return to yesterday’s link.

Today, plan to submit the final paper with the highlighted works cited page before class ends.  Today is the final day.

To combine the paper with the works cited, insert a hard return (ctrl+enter) after the conclusion paragraph.  Open Noodle Tools and export the works cited to Word – Copy and Paste the works cited to the new page created by the hard return below the essay.  Is the document saved as lastname.firstnameHR (Parker.Sam1).

New Highlighting for Today – Highlight each source in the Works Cited page to match each sources’ CDs already highlighted in the paper; DO NOT highlight any commentary.  Remember, if a URL shows up as the generated (In-Text) reference, an author or title is missing.  Fix this.

Review the grading criteria below.  If it is short of  the 400 word minimum, go back to each concrete detail and elaborate on the key point and consider adding additional commentary answering why or how is this detail important or what does this mean?

Grading Criteria Major Categories:

  • 50 Points
    • Essay – spacing, title, quality of five paragraphs’ structure (400 word min), general format (no credit without citations)
  • 30 Points
    • Parenthetical Documentation Within Paper – 3 sources minimum, usage, citation accuracy
  • 20  Points
    • Works Cited – quality of sources, # of sources, layout, general format

To upload it for evaluation, use the form below.  Upload only once.  Be certain it is as polished as possible before uploading.

HOMEWORK – We return to class tomorrow.  TWA #4 is due Friday neatly rewritten (typed for XC) double-spaced with MLA heading (TWA #4 across the top) with number and not a name.  Be certain all five sentence beginnings are present.  Homework tonight, due tomorrow, also includes completing the “Sentence Beginning Identification” handout; an extra credit opportunity is available as well on the bottom of the handout.  Any of this can be completed in class today after submitting.

Terrific Tuesday to you!  Read everything below before beginning.  Read again if something is not clear.

Yesterday we started typing our paper.

Monday’s Specific Instructions for Typing a Research Paper

SAVE OFTEN!  Once the entire paper, the intro-the body-the conclusion, is typed, use your “Day Two” highlighted handout and then, assuming this was not completed already, highlight the typed paper on the computer – NOT ON A PRINTOUT!

Refer to the Parenthetical Documentation 2017 handout for citing  a paragraph with one source or multiple sources, whichever method fits each paragraph in the essay.  If it is a paragraph developed from only one source, simply place the parenthetical citation after the closing sentence.  If multiple sources develop a paragraph, place a citation when one source ends and the next begins; your highlighted coloring dictates when sources switch.

To generate the parenthetical citations, open Noodle Tools, access the project, and click into the “Sources” tab.  Be CERTAIN spelling and punctuation are correct in each source.  To the right in each source, click the “Options” link for “In-Text Reference” and copy what generates; be sure to add page number(s) if applicable and change the font to match once the citation is pasted into the document.  If a URL shows up as the generated (In-Text) reference, an author or title is missing.  Fix this.

Once the paper is typed, parenthetically cited, and formatted correctly according to Monday’s VERY SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS, save the document as lastname.firstnameHR (Parker.Sam1).  Review the grading criteria below.
